What a Celebration!
Therefore, my dear
brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves
fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is
not in vain (2 Cor. 15:58).
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ:
I have learned that perseverance, patience and dedication are essential elements in our Christian walk, and apparently the three are intertwined.
Persevering without being constant can alter the natural course of things by often anticipating or extending it.
Within a ministry context, perseverance without constancy may make us reach our target completely worn out and unable to enjoy what we had sought or even not reach the target at all.
Inconstancy is often the result of discouragement and lack of joy in what we do for the Lord. Without us realizing it, the routine takes over our journey and mission and we are no longer able to see what the Lord is doing around us, and even when we do see it, we may no longer find joy in it because everything seems to be in vain compared to the long wait.
May the Lord renew in us the joy of serving Him so that we are able to persevere towards the goal proposed to us - this is our prayer before the throne of the Lord.
We are glad in what the Lord is doing. His faithfulness is real and His word will not return to us empty. Isaiah 55:11.
In the month of March 2014, we baptized four young men from the Portuguese-speaking congregation and a brother from the English Church. The testimony of these young people was impactful to believers and non-believers who were present. In a country where 90 % of young people have never attended a church service and many have no idea of who Jesus is, this is a big victory.
Mel and I are happy that one of these young men was our 17-year-old son, Jorge Vinicius. It is wonderful to see how Vinicius has grown in his devotion and love for the Lord.
We have a strategy of evangelism in a neighborhood away from the centre of Dereham, called Toftwood. Two Sundays a month, we have activities for children, who are accompanied by their parents. In a relaxed atmosphere where we serve coffee, tea and sandwiches, as well as setting up tables with the day’s newspaper for the parents and crafts for the children, we take this opportunity to speak of God's love. We have an average attendance of 100 people. Some of them are starting to go to our church and others are expressing interest concerning the faith.
- For our son, Jorge Vinicius, who was recently baptized in October and will join the University.
- For the evangelistic outreach held in Toftwood neighbourhood.
- For the established Portuguese-speaking congregations started through our ministry.
- For International Ministries as we celebrate our 200th anniversary this year.
- For our family. For health, grace, anointing and a renewed desire in the work of the Lord.
We thank you all for your spiritual and financial support. May the Lord in everything enrich you and empower you in every good work, making you prosperous in all things.
