Karen is on an extended ministry assignment in the United States, leading Responding to the Call, IM’s strategic and operational plan for its third century of mission. The two-year process of spiritual discernment has brought forth a new vision, priorities and goals that will guide the work of IM through the next decade. Karen says, "Responding to the Call has been an amazing experience, and I look forward to the faithful implementation of the plan over the upcoming years!”
In addition to her role in Responding to the Call, Karen is providing administrative assistance to the New Life Center Foundation (NLCF) in northern Thailand. This ministry serves minority women who are survivors of human trafficking, forced labor and sexual abuse. NLCF residents receive education, vocational and life skills training and legal assistance. Special therapeutic activities for survivors include art, dance and music therapy and individual counseling. The NLCF also promotes education at every level and supports over 200 minority women and men in vocational and university degree programs throughout Thailand. As a missionary and program consultant, Karen’s assistance includes writing grants and reports, public relations and supporting the NLCF national staff.
